The French energy company has signed a framework agreement with trading house Mitsubishi Corp and shipowner NYK.
The tie-up will see NYK order an LNG bunkering vessel newbuilding at South Korea’s Hanjin Heavy Industries for delivery by 2016.
Its home port will be Zeebrugge where GDF Suez has already secured long term access rights in the Fluxys LNG terminal.
In addition GDF Suez has secured an LNG bunkering contract with short-sea operator United European Car Carriers (UECC).
