BP, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil and their partners submitted a request for so-called pre-filing for approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

They are proposing an export facility that will pump out up to 20 million tonnes per annum from three liquefaction trains and three 160,000 cubic metre storage tanks.

The facility will be capable of handling two LNG carriers at a time at terminal facilities in Nikisi, on the Kenai Peninsula, where the smaller Kenai LNG export facility is located.
