Energy major Shell has bagged its first customer for the company’s dedicated, under-construction LNG bunker vessel.
Shell said Containships will be the launch customer for the 6,500-cbm unit after the two companies signed an LNG supply agreement last month.
The Finnish boxship owner’s 1,400-TEU containerships, which it is chartering in as newbuildings from Nordic Hamburg Shipping, will receive LNG from Shell’s bunker vessel at its base in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, once the pioneering unit goes into operation in mid-2017.
