Gail (India) has taken one LNG carrier on charter but has halted efforts to secure additional tonnage while it assesses its requirements.

Industry sources say the company, which has been using Shipping Corp of India (SCI) to sift through offers for its requirement, has fixed the Teekay LNG and Marubeni Corp-controlled, 165,500-cbm Marib Spirit (built 2008) as part of its efforts to net vessels for the LNG volumes it is buying from the Sabine Pass and Dominion Cove Point LNG plants in the US.
