France’s GTT is to supply two LNG bunker tanks to a $323m ice-breaking cruiseship newbuilding contracted by French operator Ponant in a first for the designer of membrane-type containment systems.

Shipbuilder Vard Holdings named GTT as designer and supplier of the tanks for the Polar Class 2,270-berth vessel that will cruise Arctic waters.

The electric hybrid, 150-metre-long vessel will be fitted with one 3,000-cbm bunker tank in its lower middle section and a second 1,400-cbm tank towards the stern.
