Yamal deal for Teekay LNG newbuilding

Teekay LNG has inked a contract for an open newbuilding to serve Russia's Yamal project.

The MLP says the deal for the 174,000-cbm, M-type, electronically-controlled, gas-injection (ME-GI) LNG carrier will run for 15 years.

It describes the charter as being at a fixed rate, but the financial terms were not disclosed.

Spiro Dounis of UBS suggests a figure of $70,000 to $73,000 per day is likely based on a similar 13-year contract signed by BP.
