The UK P&I Club wants crews to be aware of the dangers of mooring operations in bad weather.
It said the warning was prompted by a serious injury suffered by a crewman from an unnamed bulker in a recent incident.
Captain David Nichol, senior loss prevention executive, said: “Whilst the vessel was alongside, the wind increased to BF 8, resulting in the suspension of cargo discharge operations."
