Litigation over a tanker spill more than 20 years ago continues to fizzle as Venezuelan fishermen refuse to accept London court rulings.

The Puerto Miranda Union, representing Lake Maracaibo fishermen, was back in London’s High Court last month unsuccessfully arguing for a right to appeal a ruling that the 1992 International Oil Pollution Compensation (IOPC) Fund was liable for pollution from Ultrapetrol’s 57,000-dwt tanker Plate Princess (built 1979).
