The UK high court has excused a Greek bulker company from liability for damaged deck cargo due to the wording of a bill of lading, in what has been called an important ruling for shipowners.
Stephen Hofmeyr QC, sitting as a judge of the Queen's Bench Division, backed Elin Maritime against cargo interests including Globtainer, Algerian Qatari Steel and AIG Europe.
