The US Department of Homeland Security issued a temporary waiver to the Jones Act today, the second one this month, as US territories in the Caribbean face massive resupply efforts after Hurricane Maria.
Acting secretary Elaine Duke approved the 10-day waiver on shipping goods to Puerto Rico. The request came from US defense secretary James Mattis, who said the waiver is in the interest of national security.
