The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) have agreed to work together to tackle abandonment cases in domestic waters.
The tie-up comes just days after the UAE’s Federal Transport Authority (FTA) banned Varun ships from its waters over its persistent abandonment of crews.
The FTA and the ITF say they are due to meet this week to discuss the increasing number of abandonment cases faced by the UAE and its desire to bring the problem to an end.
