US prosecutors have asked a federal judge to approve a $750,000 reward for two DSD Shipping crew members who were whistleblowers in a pollution case against DSD Shipping.

Rolando Babon and Keith Enong will split the significant payout, according to a filing by US Attorney Kenyen Brown, the top Department of Justice lawyer for southern Alabama.

Norway’s DSD was sentenced to pay a $2m fine plus another $500,000 to fund marine research after a trial over dumping oil at sea from the 104,000-dwt Stavanger Blossom (built 2007)  and for falsifying records in the ship’s log book.
