Philippines shipowner Harbor Star Shipping Services is planning to launch a new chassis ro-ro (cha-ro) service between Cavite and Manila.
The aim is to establish a 'marine highway' to ease congestion in the capital, the Manila Times said.
Cha-ro shipping involves a container mounted on a chassis that is loaded on and off ro-ro vessels.
Geronimo Bella Jr, Harbor Star president, said the company is looking to transport about 1,000 to 2,000 teu or feu along the 25 nautical miles between Cavite and Manila.
