The pronouncement by Global Shippers’ Forum secretary general Chris Welsh that container lines “need to ‘fess up’ by taking responsibility and greater control of their costs”, rather than charge extra for fuel that has risen in price by more than 20% since the beginning of the year, ignores realities he might accept anywhere else.
