Australia and New Zealand have introduced fumigation requirements on boxes from some countries to eliminate the risk of brown marmorated stink bugs (BMSB) being inadvertently imported.

Japanese containership giant ONE said containers must be treated if coming from the US, Russia, Japan and a series of European countries like France, Germany, Spain, Greece and Italy.

The rules apply between September and the end of April next year, which coincides with the autumn and winter in the northern hemisphere.
