Palau International ShipRegistry, based half a world away in Houston, Texas, now boasts the 12,800-gt cruiseship AmusementWorld (built 1967) and the 15,700–gt sistership Leisure World (built 1969) on its books.

The vessels are operated by Universal ShipManagement of Singapore, which has jumped ship from the Tuvalu flag.

Universal boss Keith Lai said: “We decidedto change the flag of the two passenger ships that we manage, Amusement Worldand Leisure World, to the Palau International Ship Registry because we wanted aflag that would represent quality, expertise and professionalism and alsoprovide a fast, efficient and reliable service.”
