TheFederal Maritime Commission (FMC) said the agreement is unlikely to reduce competition,increase costs or reduce service standards.
TheFMC’s unanimous decision, which was announced late Wednesday, will allow the agreementto become effective as scheduled on 4 April 2014.
Thepending agreement by the G6 Alliance members would expand its currentgeographic scope to allow cooperation in the trades between the Far East andthe US West Coast, and between North Europe and all US coasts.
