Irish shipping and port activity rose by 2% as four of the five principal freight segments grew in the second quarter of 2014.

According to results announced by the Irish Maritime Development Office (IMDO), the roll on-roll off division saw volume growth of 7% to 244,629 units compared to the 229,353 units of the corresponding period.

The majority of ro-ro traffic moved – as usual - between Ireland and the UK, while this was the sixth consecutive quarterly increase in freight trailers.
