Maersk and MSC want to team up to run 185 ships in trans-Atlantic, trans-Pacific and Asia-Europe trades, following the failure of its P3 venture with the same partner and CMA CGM, after China vetoed the plan.
The US Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) cleared P3 and should do the same for 2M, Maersk believes.
When asked whether clearance would come by the deadline of 11 October, Andersen told Reuters: "I have no opinion on that but we believe that the approval should be a formality as they had already approved P3."
