The port said cargo volume, including imports, exports and empty containers, increased 9% from a year earlier.
The 775,133-teu container units that passed through the largest port in the America’s last month were the most since August 2006.
“The increased volume reflects peak season volumes and larger vessels calling at the Port of Los Angeles,” the port said.
The cargo surge has magnified long-running congestion issues at the port and slowed the movement of goods from the docks to inland warehouses.
