It said it intended to participate in the “negotiation procedure” for the sale of shares when this is re-opened by Poland's treasury ministry.
The Grimaldi-owned company said Polferries is one of Poland’s major state-owned operators.
It runs three ferries in the southern Baltic Sea between Poland and Sweden and Denmark.
The company has been for sale off and on since at least 2009.
