“It is very unfortunate and Meratus Line’s management deeply regret the situation,” the company said in a statement.
It added Meratus was otherwise known for its high standards.
“There shall remain no doubt that Meratus Line is fully committed to complying with all relevant international conventions” said CEO Charles Menaro.
“We will be going all out to take the necessary preventive actions to improve safety and we will spare no efforts in our obligation to meet and exceed the high International standards which AMSA is safe guarding.”
