Maritime authority Marina said the ferry company, now Span Asia Carrier Corporation, has had its passenger certificate cancelled.
A total of 11 vessels were included in the ban, which will also apply to any ferries joining the fleet. Operations will be limited to cargo only.
Sulpicio’s Princess of the Stars capsized in a typhoon in 2008, killing all but 32 of the 851 people on board.
