Net profit to 31 March was $37.4m, up from $21.6m in the same three months of 2014.
Revenue was down 1.8% at $314.4m, but costs fell faster at $264.55m against $282.98m the year before.
Cargo volumes were 500,687 teu, up 6.3% year-on-year.
SITC achieved an average freight rate of $479.70 per teu, down from $500 in 2014, however.
