The Danish ro-ro group will take the 33,796-gt Rodin (built 2001) and the 33,940-gt Berlioz (built 2005) on a long-term bareboat charter from 2 July.

Under the agreement, Eurotunnel has the right to require DFDS to buy the ships by mid-2017.

This option can be exercised including a price reduction equal to any charter payments made prior to the offer.

DFDS said it is participating in the sale process of all or parts of the Scop, a French workers’ cooperative which was running the vessels for Eurotunnel under the MyFerryLink brand.
