Peruvian competition authorities launched proceedings against 11 liner operators for alleged price fixing in the container trade.

The National Institute for Defence of Competition (Indecopi) said the administrative proceedings, which could result in fines, are focused on suspected collusion between 2009 and 2013 to set prices and commercial terms.

The agency’s announcement comes weeks after reports that major liner operators are in talks to strike a settlement deal in Europe over alleged anticompetitive practises, and as many of the same companies’ car carrier arms have been fined for price fixing and customer allocation.
