A new containership merger between Hapag-Lloyd and United Arab Shipping Co (UASC) could be on the cards, the German company has confirmed.
Hapag said: "Hapag-Lloyd and UASC are currently discussing forms of cooperation including a potential combination of their mutual container shipping operations."
The company's announcement came hot on the heels of reports from the Manager Magazin, suggesting that negotiations between the two sides are now close to fruition.
