Kirby Corp continues to believe in the potential of its marine business despite seeing its operating income halved.
Its marine transportation division booked operating profit of $35.8m, against $72.7m a year ago, after revenue declined from $378.3m to $331.3m.
The US tug and barge owner reported net earnings of $25.8m for the second quarter, down from $38.9m a year earlier.
