Wagenborg OSV to become luxury yacht

Dutch yard Icon to convert compatriot owner's ice-class Sanaborg.

Dutch yard Icon Yachts is to turn an ice-breaking supply ship into a luxury yacht.

Conversion work has already started on Wagenborg's 900-dwt Sanaborg (built 2012).

The yard said this is the second such project it has attempted and it has been flooded with conversion offers.

Project Ragnar will see the offshore vessel undergo an extreme makeover thanks to a design by the UK's RWD.

"The owner is excited about her unique style which was inspired by medieval war craftsmanship, combined with modern sleek lines and British heritage," Icon said.

"She will be one of the few real explorer luxury super yachts with a certified Ice class A1 super hull."

The vessel will be able to travel into the Arctic, with a range of 6,000 nautical miles.

It will have a helicopter landing pad and a "floating beach" with a retractable gangway.

Several tanks will be removed and converted into a leisure/spa area.
