Ocean Rig said a new drilling contract and the option to extend an existing contract will boost its $1.2bn backlog by $20m.
The George Economou-led contractor for deepwater drilling services said Norway's Statoil will take the Ocean Rig Poseidon (built 2011) for a one-well drilling program offshore Tanzania. The contract will start in the first quarter of 2018.
Separately, Lundin Norway declared their fifth option to extend the existing contract of the Leiv Eiriksson (built 2001).
