Damen Shiprepair & Conversion has won what it says is the first ever European deal to convert a dredger to LNG.
Rouen-based GIE Dragages-Ports is sending its 8,500-cbm trailing suction hopper unit Samuel de Champlain (built 2002) to its Dunkirk yard next year.
It will be converted to run on both LNG and gasoil.
Generators will be changed to dual-fuel models and LNG storage facilities will be fitted.
