New York-listed Tidewater has appointed a permanent successor to departed CEO Jeffrey Platt.

The US offshore giant has been run by Larry Rigdon on a temporary basis since Platt stepped down in October following the company's emergence from voluntary bankruptcy restructuring.

The new top man is John Rynd, who will join from 5 March.

Rynd was previously CEO of Hercules Offshore from 2008 to 2016.
