The Norwegian company will carry out the work on the 13,400-bhp subsea construction ship Havila Phoenix (built 2009) before it embarks on a seven-year charter contract with DeepOcean.

Under the charter contract, which includes four one-year options, Havila earns a reported $70,600 per day.

Havyard will lengthen the ship’s hull by over 17 metres to enable it to be fitted with technology needed to carry out trenching for offshore wind turbine installations.
