Farnham-based Sealion will take delivery of the DP3 newbuilding in early 2017.

Jon Golding, commercial director of the owner, explains the order represents both an expansion and renewal of Sealion’s fleet in the sector, following the sale of the 114-metre Toisa Polaris (built 1999) a couple of years ago.

The contract is Sealion’s first with Zhenhua but the company says the yard has a “proven track record of building complex structures and vessels”.
