Maersk Supply has sent the 10,880-bhp Maersk Gabarus (built 1983) for scrap in Belgium.
A spokesperson for the owner says the sale comes as part of the company’s fleet renewal programme.
“We currently have 12 new-buildings in the order book ... and on 14 October we sold Maersk Fetcher to new owners,” the spokesperson said.
Galloo has taken delivery of the Maersk Gabarus and will oversee its recycling in a safe and environmentally sound fashion, Maersk Supply said.
