He told a US energy conference that the ratio of offshore supply vessels (OSVs) to rigs will decrease from its current global level of 4.49 vessels for each drilling unit.

He still expects the global rig count to remain relatively stable as offshore activity experiences downward trend amid declining oil prices, but OSV supply factors could provide some help.

“I think we should also see that vessel-to-rig ratio come down, which will hopefully support us over the next couple of years,” Platt said at the Cowen & Co Ultimate Energy Conference in New York.
