Dof Subsea has secured employment for one pipe-laying support vessel (PLSV) from Brazil’s Petrobras.
The Brazilian-built 15,183-gt Skandi Niteroi (built 2011) will work for the oil major for eight months, plus options for another eight months.
Carrying the Brazilian flag, Skandi Niteroi has an advantage in winning work in Brazil by blocking international ships according to domestic regulations.
Mons Aase, chief executive of Dof, said: “I am very pleased with the contract award, securing utilization in a challenging market and maintaining our strong position in the Brazilian market.”
