Anchor-handlers (AHTSs) have made up the majority of offshore ships scrapped so far in 2016.

UK broker Clarksons said 12 vessels had been sent to breakers by the end of April, in weak markets where hundreds of units are laid up.

Of the small total, 83% were AHTSs.

Three were scrapped in April alone, including the 7,000-bhp Emre Omur (built 1977), which was sold into Turkey.
