BHP Billiton and Mexico’s Pemex signed contracts Saturday to begin work on the significant Trion discovery in the Gulf of Mexico.
The agreement includes a commitment to deliver a minimum work program, which consists of drilling one appraisal well, one exploration well and the acquisition of additional seismic data.
Saturday’s signing ceremony was attended by the President of Mexico, Enrique Pena Nieto, BHP Billiton chief executive Andrew Mackenzie, and Pemex chief executive Jose Antonio Gonzalez Anaya.
