Miner BHP Billiton has handed its Port Hedland tug contract to Australia’s Rivtow Marine.

Its current provider Teekay has lost out on the business for 14 ships after more than 10 years. RivTow already operated four for the company.

Teekay's unionised crews won better holiday entitlements after an industrial dispute at Port Hedland last year, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

But these improvements had been under discussion again after Teekay indicated it may have to alter the terms to win the tender, the report said.
