A UK naval vessel and US fighter jets have thwarted an attack by pirates on a Tata NYK bulker off Oman.
The support ship Fort Victoria headed to the 62,000–dwt Sagar Ratan (built 2010) as 10 gunmen in two skiffs fired rockets, it was reported on Tuesday.
The pirates made repeated efforts to storm the vessel with ladders.
The ship had sent an SOS signal as it took evasive action 150 miles south-west of the Omani capital Muscat.
