Two containerships have collided off the southern tip of Malaysia in an incident that has caused a major oil spill.
The 2,495-teu Wan Hai 301 (built 2001) and the 4,250-teu APL Denver (built 2008) collided just before midnight off Pasir Gudang Port in Johor.
The master of the APL Denver has reported that one of the vessel’s bunker tanks sustained damage resulting in approximately 300 tonnes of oil spillage.
