The US Coast Guard (USCG) has airlifted an injured crewman from a reefer off Alaska.
The 2,100-dwt Coastal Progress (built 1988) was 160 miles from Kodiak when an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter medevaced the 22-year-old man with a suspected broken leg.
The duty flight surgeon recommended the removal of the man for hospital treatment, the USCG said.
“The Jayhawk crew’s extensive training allowed them to manoeuvre and maintain a safe altitude over the large vessel,” said petty officer 3rd class Joseph Macera, the Anchorage sector watchstander.
