Jail sentences for two engineers aboard an Oceanfleet bulker were handed down Wednesday for their part in a “magic pipe” pollution case.
Cassius Samson, 52, and Rustico Ignacio, 66, both of the Philippines, face twelve and nine months in jail respectively.
Both men were convicted in September for obstructing a US Coast Guard inspection aboard the 29,500-dwt Ocean Hope (built 1996) at the port of Wilmington in North Carolina in July 2015.
