Ama Marine has reportedly raided the secondhand market to pick up a small modern coated chemical tanker.
The low-profile Thai shipowner is said to have acquired the 13,250-dwt Loyal Pegasus (built 2008), according to Clarksons.
“Although the price has not been reported, we believe it to be in the region of $11m,” the shipbroker said in its latest weekly report.
“This represents a further reduction in benchmark values for secondhand tonnage in this sector.”
