The World Bank has barred Damen Shipyards Gorinchem from participating in its tenders for 18 months over fraud.
The financial institution said the Dutch shipbuilder engaged in a “fraudulent practice” relating to its West Africa regional fisheries programme.
An investigation by the bank revealed evidence that Damen failed to disclose an agent and the amount of commissions due to that agent when it submitted a bid to supply a patrol boat for Sierra Leone in 2013.
