Thoresen Shipping has disposed of another of its bulk carriers for scrap as it continues its clear-out of elderly tonnage.
The Thai-backed shipowner said it had sold the 42,529-dwt Thor Energy (built 1994) to Compass Shipping & Trading for $2.7m.
“The sale is in line with prevailing dry bulk shipping conditions, in which older vessels become less competitive and less able to meet operating costs,” Thoresen Shipping said.
