Rickmers Maritime Trust has scrapped a boxship before it has reached its eighth birthday, market sources say.
Brokers say the 4,250-teu India Rickmers (built 2009) is heading to the breakers beaches.
VesselsValue notes the demolition comes following a slide of two thirds in the ship’s market value this year.
Rickmers Maritime Trust is under financial pressure having defaulted on bonds and has five vessels laid up off Malaysia.
