Pan Ocean picks off former Hanjin pair

South Korean owner believed to be the buyer of kamsarmax brace in $42m deal.

South Korea’s Pan Ocean is being linked to a purchase of two Tsuneishi-built kamsarmax bulkers from the fleet of collapsed owner Hanjin Shipping.   

Pan Ocean is said to have paid $21m each for the 82,000-dwt Hanjin Hadong and the Hanjin Port Kamsar (both built 2012).

UK-based online platform VesselsValue says the ships are worth $20.4m a piece. 

Last month Songa Bulk bought the one-year older STX built 80,000-dwt Flama (built 2011) for just $14.8m. 

Clarksonsis handling the sale of six ex-Hanjin bulkers on behalf of  Korea Development Bank  (KDB). 

TradeWinds weekly reports today that both Pan Ocean and Morgan Stanley are in the picture to buy some of the ships.
