Scorpio Bulkers has sold its two oldest vessels for $23m each to unidentified buyers, market sources said today.
The two panamax bulkers are not so old. Both the 81,600-dwt Cakewalk and Charleston were built in 2014 at China’s Jiangnan Shanghai shipyard.
The sisters are valued by VesselsValue at just over $22m each.
While the circumstances surrounding the sales were not clear, TradeWinds is told they appear to be a strategic move on the part of the Emanuele Lauro-led owner rather than a measure encouraged by lenders.
